Microsoft's security software lineup sure is getting a lot of attention these days. No, it is not for moving the release dates back or for making a expensive product with tons of gadgets that some of us want and some of us don't. It is not for any of the reasons you may be thinking.
It is for simply answering our demands to make a security a part of the Windows experience!
In the past, EVERYONE was saying how Microsoft did not care about Windows security and then what happens: Microsoft whips up a batch of first class programs to handle security and now all of a sudden - EVERYONE wants them out of security!!
Can Microsoft do any good? What did they expect Microsoft to do? I, for one, expected them to 1) research the problem and 2) build a line of products that could be installed and updated with the other Microsoft products installed on my machine via Microsoft' updates. A security program that would meld into the system without clogging my machine (unlike many of the other guys products).
THAT IS WHAT THEY DID! This is exactly what Microsoft is getting into trouble for.
So what the ****? What are we trying to say here? Are we saying that Windows should not become secure, so third party companies can fix the problems? THAT IS CRAZY! Those companies can write a different program or they can find a way to better their current ones. Happy customers do not go shopping for new programs. Happy customers that have been treated well, stay with their current providers. Just as it is with every other service offered in America.
Would we let a car maker leave a security problem - just so repair shops could stay busy? How would this kind of thinking work if we applied the formula to other business sectors? I don't think it would work to well - do you?
I think we should let Microsoft make security programs (after all they are a software company) and let the regular crowd adjust and improve their wares. They can offer up great customer support, with a quality program, that is offered at a affordable price.
Oh, wait...that has always been the idea.
